Dividend investing has to be one of my favorites.
I started buying dividend stocks and ETF's about 2 years ago. My current dividend portfolio is just over $10,000 invested.
Currently I am making about $1,150 per year in annual dividend income.
Here is my thought process behind dividend investments at the age of 26
By no means are dividend stocks my largest investment, and frankly they never will be, but I do place money into these type of investments almost every week.
Why? Because in 20-30 years I will benefit from the income I generate from these investments. I for the most part, buy long term dividend paying stocks. For now and the foreseeable future I reinvest all of my dividends. Meaning, every-time that I receive a dividend from a company whose stock I own, I automatically reinvest that dollar amount back into that stock.
So here is my strategy
Research companies that pay dividends and look at their chart and performance over the past 5 years
See what kind of dividend they are paying (monthly, quarterly, etc)
See their dividend payout history. Have they increased their payment over a period of time or decreased it?
If all of these are met, then I will buy the stock.
Automatically set up dividend reinvestment from each stock or ETF
This is pretty much exactly what I do.
Here is a list of some of my favorite dividend stocks
$V Visa
$AAPL Apple
$HD Home Depot
$WM Waste Management
$MSFT Microsoft
$COST Costco
$KO Coca-Cola
$MCD McDonalds
$JNJ Johnson and Johnson
$PFE Pfizer
$O Realty Income
$SBUX Starbucks
$SCHD Schwab Dividend ETF
By no means is this all of them, but these are some of the ones I personally like.
